Filings of criminal immigration cases in federal court in Sacramento’s Eastern District of California in the last fiscal year increased to the highest level in a decade, with the vast majority of the cases involving deported felons being cited for re-entering the country. . . . Some 406 cases were filed in the federal fiscal year ending Sept. 30, and those filings involved 414 defendants. That is a 45 percent higher than the previous fiscal year and a 130 percent increase over fiscal 2007.
