Acting United States Attorney Lawrence G. Brown announced today that United States District Judge Oliver W. Wanger sentenced CHAUDRY ALI, also known as Shan Ahmed, 44, of Sacramento, for his conviction for one count of trafficking in counterfeit goods. The sentence includes a term of imprisonment of 12 months, forfeiture of all goods involved in the offense, and restitution of $5,000.
According to AUSA David Gappa, who prosecuted the case, ALI admitted that from September 2007 through April 2008, in Fresno, California he knowingly purchased and sold purses, wallets, and shoes with spurious trademarks belonging to Coach, Chanel, Nike, Gucci, Christian Dior, Dooney & Bourke and other companies.
