For nearly 40 years, the five-story building at Fresno and O streets served as a federal courthouse. But in 2006, a new federal courthouse was built at Tulare and O streets, a few blocks away.
The federal government agreed to convey the title to the building for $1, and it was renovated for use by the Superior Court. The work was completed Oct. 15.
The five-story building, which formerly housed eight federal courtrooms, chambers and federal justice agencies, will now have 15 courtrooms -- with room for a sixteenth. Formerly the B.F. Sisk Federal Building, and now the B.F. Sisk Courthouse, the building will include six different divisions now in five separate buildings.
