As I predicted we would see more of this year, the U.S. Attorney's Office filed a civil complaint Monday seeking to forfeit a 230-acre property after marijuana plants were allegedly found during execution of a search warrant last year. From what I can tell from this Appeal-Democrat.com, 1/14/11 story, the report that officers also found methamphetamine on the property is a red herring as that occurred 15 years ago, long before expiration of the statute of limitations.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Sacramento is seeking forfeiture of 230 acres near Camptonville in eastern Yuba County where marijuana and methamphetamine were found.
The complaint for forfeiture of the property at 15438 Old Toll Road was filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Sacramento.
The property, bordered on three sides by U.S. Forest Service land, is owned by Gregory Scott McClellan, who was the subject of a drug trafficking investigation by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration in early 2010, according to the complaint.
On Sept. 16, DEA agents executed a search warrant at the property and found hashish and 66 marijuana plants that McClellan admitted were his. He also admitted manufacturing hashish, the complaint said.
McClellan told officers he was using a workshop near his house for a marijuana cloning operation.
More marijuana plants were found at three other residences on the property, . . . .
