The Myron D. Crocker federal courthouse as California congresspersons originally proposed? The Earl Warren Courthouse as the Bakersfield Californian suggests? Or something else? Vote here.
After California Senators Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein and U.S. Representative Jim Costa of Fresno introduced companion bills in the Senate and House proposing to name the now under-construction, architecturally impressive Bakersfield federal courthouse after former EDCA District Judge Myron D. Crocker, see Bakersfieldnow.com, 7/26/11, Rep. Costa withdrew his bill after receiving criticism from constituents and Bakersfield Congressman Kevin McCarthy. The problem to many is that Judge Crocker apparently had no connection to Bakersfield.
As for me, while I have no problem naming the courthouse after Judge Crocker (who I had the pleasure of appearing before many times during my stint as an Assistant Federal Defender in Fresno), the Earl Warren Courthouse has a nice ring to it too.
